About
DEADWEIGHT is a First-Person Grappleathon Thief-Em-Up where you play as a quick and nimble rogue, dual-wielding grappling hooks.
Use your mobility to fly through the wizard's keep, stealing their prized possessions to drag back home with you before time runs out. Each item taken weighs you down, adding to your deadweight(™).
You can use your nimbleness to your advantage by keeping up your momentum through your grappling hooks! These can be used to speed up on long open areas or to tightly turn yourself around a corner.
Sliding allows you to have less friction with the ground at the cost of basic movement controls, only being able to change your velocity through your grappling hooks!
All items, presented in glowing yellow, can be pulled towards you with your grappling hooks. Items will automatically attach to you once close enough!
You can then deposit items you find throughout the level for score! The heavier the item, the more its worth.
Only the most nimble of thieves can collect them all!
Jam Information
A Cucumber Maki game made in Godot 4.5 for the Yogscast's Jingle Jam 2025!
This year's theme was If You Can't Beat Them, Join Them which we interpreted with the joining of objects to the player as they traverse the level. We began implementing enemies that we could evade or join to each other as well, but decided to prioritise the movement and grappling mechanics.
